Yarmouth’s lifeboat benefits from sales of Wightlink’s charity calendar

(28 June 2019) Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield has presented a cheque for £500 to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in Yarmouth and seized his opportunity to look round the organisation’s impressive Severn-class lifeboat.

The money was raised through sales of Wightlink’s popular 2019 charity calendar featuring photographs of its ferries and FastCats taken by crew members and shore staff who are out on the Solent in all weathers.

The RNLI was the chosen charity of IT specialist Patrick Hughes who took the photo featured on the front cover. It was a striking image of Wightlink’s flagship Victoria of Wight departing Portsmouth Harbour.

“As a keen sailor, the RNLI is close to my heart,” explains Keith. “I was very impressed by the state-of-the-art Yarmouth lifeboat and the bravery of crew members who launch it in the worst storms to save lives. Wightlink enjoys a special relationship with the rescue services and we know our donation will be put to good use.”
