(19 August 2019) The best of locally produced food and drink is now available at Wightlink’s Yarmouth terminal at the ferry company’s Castle Café.
The range includes Island Roasted coffee, sandwiches and pastries from Grace’s Bakery, cakes from Calbourne Classics and Wight Crystal water.
“Customers on the way to the mainland can now pick up a quick drink and snack before boarding their sailing.” says Wightlink’s Head of Retail, Simon Lewis.
All the milk used in the café comes from Briddlesford Farm’s award-winning herd of Guernsey cows, based near Wootton.
Farmer Paul Griffin was among one of the first people to visit Castle Café: “Wightlink’s Wight Taste initiative is a really good way of supporting local businesses and highlighting the fine produce that is abundant on the Island. We are delighted to be part of this new outlet that provides another high-profile shop window for our milk,” he says.
Wightlink’s Business Development Director Clive Tilley adds: “We are responding to customer feedback by offering excellent local coffee and a range of snacks. Our ports at Lymington, Fishbourne, Ryde, Gunwharf and Portsmouth Harbour already have cafés which are proving very popular with our customers.”
Opening times are currently being trialled to determine what works best for customers.
