Wightlink closes shops and cafes in response to the Coronavirus outbreak

(23 March 2020) Following Government advice, Wightlink is closing its Costa Coffee and Wight Taste outlets to minimise the spread of Coronavirus at 23:59 tonight (Monday 23 March) until further notice.

They include the popular Camber Café and Camber Express at the Portsmouth car ferry terminal, the Creek Café at Fishbourne, Castle Café at Yarmouth and other facilities at ports and on board Wightlink ships.

Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield says: “Our Wight Taste and Costa outlets are popular with customers and an important part of our business. We look forward to opening them again as soon as conditions allow.”

Earlier today, Wightlink implemented a new timetable with fewer sailings during this emergency, following discussions with Isle of Wight Council, and in accord with other operators.

The ferry company is prioritising essential freight supplies to the Island ,including food and fuel, as well as assisting the NHS and emergency services. There is now a two-hourly service on the Lymington-Yarmouth route and hourly sailings on the Portsmouth-Fishbourne car ferry and FastCat passenger routes.  See the Wightlink website or download the smartphone app for further details.
