(7 October 2020) Hovertravel has signed a deal to play Isle of Wight radio exclusively at both of its terminals. Hovertravel has terminals in Ryde and Southsea.
Loretta Lale, Head of Commercial at Hovertravel, explains: “The feedback from our customers was that they wanted local news, relevant to the area they were travelling to or from. Our visitors from further afield also enjoy the experience of local radio, giving them an insight into the community they are visiting.”
Isle of Wight Radio is the most listened to radio station on the Isle of Wight, reaching over 65%* of the adult Island population. An award-winning station celebrating 30 years, Isle of Wight Radio has always focused on the news relevant to the people who live and work on the Island. This includes travel updates, competitions and an entertaining schedule of interactive programmes hosted by engaging presenters.
Claire John, Managing Director of Isle of Wight Radio, said “This partnership with Hovertravel allows Isle of Wight Radio to reach additional listeners and offer them a chance to hear the sound of the Island before they even cross the Solent. It also allows for our existing audience to keep listening to their favourite radio station as they wait to use the iconic hovercraft to travel to and from the island.”
