Introduction of RET and great savings for customers

RET (road equivalent tariff) is a distance based fares structure, which underpins the Scottish Government’s commitment to providing one single overarching fares policy across Scotland’s entire ferry network. RET bases ferry fares on the cost of travelling the equivalent distance by road. For customers the introduction of RET across all CalMac ferry routes from October 2015 means even better value fares with savings of up to 65% on some routes. With fares for foot passengers from just £3.20 adult return and from £40.30 or less for a family of 4 with a car, it’s even easier and better value to visit the stunning islands of Scotland’s west coast.
