Spain Without the Plane

Spanish coast and mountain breaks from just £169 per person

  • Sail directly to Spain from Portsmouth or Plymouth from March to June, or from September onwards
  • Prices include car plus cruise-ferry to Spain and four-berth cabin on board
  • Stay for two, three or five nights with breakfast at carefully selected hotels

Brittany Ferries is delighted to present a selection of short breaks to Spain this spring and autumn, sailing directly from Portsmouth and Plymouth. A world away from busy Costas and British bars, northern Spain presents a rich canvas for those seeking an enchanting coastal or mountain break in the sunshine. And with deals from just £169 per person for travel between March and June now is the time to take advantage.

“Many of the hotels are favourites with our customers and the best thing about these breaks is that you choose where you’d like to stay,” said Christiane Barker, Brittany Ferries general manager Holidays. “We have developed a menu of carefully selected accommodation near beautiful beaches, amongst mountains, as well as in traditional Spanish villages.”

The four-star Las Rocas, located in Castro Urdiales, one of Cantabria’s prettiest fishing ports, is one of the hotels on the menu. Close to the beach and town centre, Las Rocas has a warm ambiance with a restaurant that specialises in fresh fish. For those who prefer the mountains, there’s the four-star Hotel La Cepada, Cangas de Onis, located on the slopes of Mount Llueves. Panoramic views of the town and Picos de Europa national park, as well as the Roman bridge at Cangas, make this a location to remember.

Travelling by Brittany Ferries presents none of the hassles faced by passengers making the journey to Spain by plane. Relaxation comes as standard, with quality French food on board, comfortable cabins, bars and boutique shopping. All combine to make the journey a part of the holiday. Once in Spain, there’s no need for the expense and hassle of a hire car either: simply drive ashore and you are away.

About Brittany Ferries

Brittany Ferries is a passenger car and freight service operating from eleven ports, linking four countries: UK – France, UK – Spain and Ireland – France. The company was set up by a collective of French farmers as a freight-only operator, running from Roscoff in Brittany to Plymouth with the first crossing taking place on 1 January 1973, the date the United Kingdom joined the EEC (forerunner to the EU).

The aim then was to bring French agricultural products to a wider British market. However, the service quickly developed into an operation carrying hundreds of thousands of British tourists, eager to experience the delights of Brittany and Normandy. Today Brittany Ferries is the market leader on the Western Channel for passengers and for freight. It is also a leading supplier of ferry-inclusive motoring holidays to France and Spain.
